Chewacla House
This 1964 one story 1,400 sq.ft. brick house was transformed into a 3,759 modern courtyard house. The front was lifted up to create a presence at street level, still maintaining its one-story scale at the rear courtyard level with all glass walls maintaining transparency into the courtyard. The building maintains its brick exterior with the addition of metal siding for texture and color. It received the 2007 AIA honor award.
Lowry House
This mid-century 1400 sq. ft house was completely renovated and added on to a 4,000 sq.ft. modern romantic house. A dramatic large rear courtyard was created for entertainment while it became an organizing element for all of the interior rooms. This move helped sustain natural light and views to all interior rooms surrounding it. It received the AIA honor award in 2017.
Hickorywoods House
This new contemporary 2500 sq.ft. house in Auburn borrows its inspiration from the southern country farmhouse. It shares an entry courtyard with a detached guest house/artist studio. The space celebrates nature, light, and beautiful views on the inside. It received the AIA Honor award in 1995.
Hollon House
This 1953 mid-century house was completely renovated for a couple interested in art collection. The design maintained the original intention of the house and its relationship to nature while internally removing some strategic interior walls, allowed for total interior spacial transparency.
Art Haus
This project, consisting of several phases and buildings, attempts to create a small campus consisting of artist residence, exhibition space, and seven studio spaces for local artists. All the existing buildings were transformed by opening up each studio to natural light vis-a-vis light scoops. The space between the studios is anchored by twin towers for fire and water allowing for it to become a public living room for gatherings, artist showings, story tellings, and other communal activities.
Rane Family Chapel
